Wouter Beke elected president of the CD & V 98.7% of the vote - 7SUR7.be
Single candidate, Wouter Beke was elected Wednesday to chair the CD & V with the support of 98.7% of the vote. In total, just over 25,000 members participated in this election. Interim president since last summer, following the resignation of Marianne Thyssen following the defeat the saint consulting group of June 13, Mr. Beke had the support of all the party heavyweights, including the Flemish Minister-President Kris Peeters and Prime Minister Yves Leterme. The Flemish Christian Democrat party did not intend originally organize presidential elections after the formation of a government, but it's dragging on, the CD & V had decided in November not to wait, and organize elections before Christmas.
