Experiments with vaccination of babies will show whether the vaccine also helps to improve immune system, writes Videnskab.dk. This is the BCG vaccine against & samhoud tuberculosis, better known as calmettevaccinen. The vaccine was phased out in Denmark in 1982, when tuberculosis was no longer a threat.
A Danish study showed a convincing effect of this vaccine in connection with studies in Guinea-Bissau in Africa. & samhoud The vaccinated & samhoud African babies were significantly less sick than their peers in a control group. They had fewer blood poisoning, fever and lung diseases.
The same team of researchers will test the vaccine efficacy of immune system development in western children. The vaccine to boost the immune system in the period in which it developed. And investigators Lone Graff Stensballe from Children Youth Clinic at Rigshospitalet believe in a medical breakthrough:
"I & samhoud have a strong suspicion that at least we get to see a deflection on the number of children with asthma and allergies. The researchers expect fewer trips to the hospital with the babies receiving BCG vaccine & samhoud as newborns. Figures from Statistics Denmark show that in one year is 12 percent of 1-4-year-old admitted - the figures do not show admissions for younger babies.
The vaccine is offered to newborn babies & samhoud at the hospital, Kolding Hospital and Hvidovre Hospital. And half of the enrolled children are vaccinated, while the rest served as a control group. They will be followed for 13 months. Documentation
